A huge passion, a brilliant talent revealed to the whole World in a day of September 2008 in Varese, Italy, the same Country where he is living the new, important step of his career. On September 26th, 2008, Fabio Duarte wore the Under 23 World Champion jersey, and saw his life change forever. “Cycling has been my great passion since when I was a little kid: at 8, on Sunday, I couldn’t wait to reach the Mondoñedo climb to drop all those who were riding with me. But obviously, a World Championship changes your dimension, completely, and a lot of new opportunities come up. Along with new challenges.”

After joining Claudio Corti’s team in 2012 in a leader’s role, Fabio had to deal with tough luck several times during the year: “In my career, I had never experienced so many crashes and accidents in key moments, or seen so many big chances blow up at the very last. On the other hand, a year like this taught me the importance of being part of a team like ours.”

Our technical staff, led by Claudio Corti, and my teammates never gave up supporting and encouraging me, even for a second. That’s why I am so proud of my win at Coppa Sabatini, at the very end of the season: I think I have proven my determination, and rewarded all of the people who put their confidence in me. I will never forget it.

The new year has started in a positive way: “The early tests reported the best outcomes ever in my career, and I owe it to the training schedule set up by our Sports Director and Team Doctor. That’s the perfect base to restart, and get back stronger: in 2013 I want to crash the bad luck and prove right the people who trusted me… I feel great in Italy, and in a team that really looks like an extended family: everything is in place for a great season!
